A message from our team

The Oxford Fab at the University of Oxford has a clear vision: to provide a collaborative, multi-disciplinary research environment to support the creation and evolution of world-class nanoscience and technical expertise. We are committed to creating a vibrant community of researchers and a place for collaborative research between external researchers both from academia and industry. This is a user-led facility and all academic teams across several departments that use the facility have a significant commitment to the facility.

Our Core Values:

Facilitating cutting-edge, multi-disciplinary research and education in the areas of fabrication, imaging, and characterization of nanoscale structures, across the disciplines of Life Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering, Materials Science, Medicine and Physics.

Creating a world-class collaborative nanotechnology research community by providing world-class expertise, shared instrumentation facilities and infrastructure, synergistic meeting places, and educational opportunities.

Being an open and inclusive place that enables the best research and education to thrive.

Welcome Message

We are an important UK facility for world-class research in micro and nanoscience. Such collaborative multi-user facilities are crucial and we strive to be a model facility that is user-led and run. We also liaise extensively with other facilities within Oxford, particularly the Oxford Materials Characterisation Service, and can provide excellent support for all your needs. Please get in touch - even if you do not know about fabrication - and we can help get you started.

Our services are used by start-ups, spin-outs and industry, either on a long-term basis, or for one-off processes.

If you are already at the University of Oxford, we can help liaise with your academic supervisor and get you going. Groups that will use the facility extensively should also discuss becoming a member of the Management Committee - as this is a user-led facility, all academic faculty leads need to be involved in the management of the facility.

We invite you to join our research community, and push the envelope of nanoscience and nanoengineering.

Harish Bhaskaran, Academic Director, Core Management Team
